“Very sturdy. Somewhat unwieldy. You don't want to have to carry and lift it too far so site it near to where you will use it.
I haven't used it loads yet - have only milled grains, not pulses - but so far impressive. Yes, it's noisy, but not ear splitting, and the lid helps. The flour you get out is considerably warmer than the grain; I recommend grinding into a wide metal bowl so the grain cools off before storage, unless you are using it straight away. The flour feels lovely; quite silky.
Spelt is very "husky": not wanting to grind flour twice, I put it through once on as coarse as it will go, then again on as fine as it will go. Or you could just sieve it.
Spout needs a bit of brushing out after use or it will shed a bit of flour. I just put a carrier over the top and a rubber band around that bit.
No regrets!”
“Bought as a Birthday present for my sourdough-baking wife. Went down well and has now become a fixture on the countertop. Apparently the warm freshly-ground flour speeds the rise of the bread which I am told is a good thing and I did well in the present buying thing...”
