The shelf height is fixed at a touch below 7.5". The upper section could not accommodate my vintage amp (McIntosh Mac 1700) and I placed it in the bottom section; which meant that I could not use that section for my LPs, so the features that I was attracted to when I chose this piece were actually not available.
The leg sections cut into the wood of the top shelf when the assembly is tightened. The central section has washers to protect it; a few more of these would be a good idea to protect the wood surface a little better.”
