“I was not informed at the time of ordering that the turntable cable is on backorder for who knows how long. So the cable gets a one star rating for being missing in action.”
“The Pangea Premier SE Turntable Cable is a simple, very good sounding solution for the money. Bizarrely enough, when I connected the ground, I got a hum I didn't have with the Pangea Prime cable I had connected; I solved it by disconnecting the ground at the turntable end and it's now dead silent. The sound quality is dramatically better than the Prime, which in my system earlier Pro-Ject RPM-5 with a Sumiko Pearl into a Parasound Z phono preamp) was very muted and had lousy soundstaging; highs and lows are much improved, and the stage is significantly wider with better instrument placement. Certainly a worthy improvement for the money!”
Thanks for your review. We recommend that customers experiment to get the best result with this cable. Every system is different and has a different grounding scheme. For some people connecting the ground wire on both ends works best. For others, leaving one end or both disconnected sounds besr.
Glad you found a solution that works.
Sorry this cable did not work out for you. In some systems we find it's necessary to ground the turntable's motor housing to the chassis of the phono preamp. Try that.
