“I am pleased with the Pangea Audio DS400 speaker stands.
I think, for the money, it would be hard to find a better set of stands.
Some negatives:
I had to clean the threads of the bottom plate so I could screw the spike into it.
Also, aligning the columns was an issue until I figured out a solution. I placed some pieces of 1� pvc between the columns to hold the alignment as I tightened the bolts.
The stands will ring unless at least partially filled with material. I used bluestone from a leftover patio project.
I placed plastic bags in each column and filled the bags with the bluestone. This added weight to the stand and took away the ringing.
Fortunately, I had the tools and materials to deal with these issues. Keep this is mind if considering this purchase.
In spite of this issues, I do like the stands and think it was worth the effort.”
“I'm not much of a do-it-yourselfer but these speakers were easy to assemble. I bought four of these and 100 pounds of sand wasn't enough, they hold a lot of sand! I almost only gave these 4 stars due to the spikes, I spent a lot of time finishing my hardwood floors and I was hoping some rubber spike covers would be included (the stands I bought from Audio Advisor 20 years ago had them). I don't like the isolation discs, too much trouble positioning the speakers.”
