I am highly considering the purchase of the link to supplement my phone. I am concerned though because it seems almost every review has lost the link on the course and that seems risky for $129.00. Additional Question: does using the link help preserve battery life for the phone as opposed to no link?

Hi Aaron, Thanks for your review. To reduce the likelihood of losing the device, we recommend you clip it to your belt, or to an unused pocket so you are less likely to knock it off. We understand some users have managed to lose the device and are using this feedback for future developments of the clip. In regards to your questions, the Arccos Caddie Link will capture the data for your round so this will help reduce the battery consumption on your phone. Five stars for the Link & its functioning. One star for the clip. I like the Link. It works well. It is much better than keeping my phone in my front pocket. However, the clip and retention are a weak point. It is too easy for the Link to fall off my belt. In the winter California I've found that I need to clip it to the open pocket of my jacket so the Link isn't covered by the jacket. Then it can hear/pick up the golf shots. Because I've worried about losing the Link I drilled a small hole in the clip and attached a short lanyard of nylon string. I've been looping that to my belt or jacket pocket zipper with the lanyard around the belt or through the zipper "handle". This worked and saved me from losing it at least once. But the hole I drilled cuts into the lanyard string and the string falls off. Finally -- the clip is way too tight. It's very hard to slip it onto my belt and also hard to slip over the nylon zipper of my jacket. Finally, while trying to fit it onto my belt yesterday the clip broke. My suggestions -- make the clip slightly looser so it's easier to slip onto a belt. Add a lanyard with a strong cord. And possibly redesign the clip for easy replacement if it breaks. Thanks --

Before using the link I missed a lot of shots using my android phone, I haven't missed a shot since using the link... I would have given it 5 stars but like a few other reviews I lost mine mid round while attached to my belt (I was lucky I retraced my steps and found it 2 holes back).

I’m really pleased with the caddie link. Unfortunately this is my 2nd one since Arccos launched these. First one mysteriously fell off without me knowning while on the course. I ordered my new one early January and although the email informed me that my purchased wouldn’t ship until mid feb, I received it by the end of January. So of course I was very pleased by that. The shot capture has work flawlessly. My only negative is that it has been hard for me to get a gps signal every time I start a round. I even use the advice and hold the unit skyward. Still it takes about three tries on average before it start to sync. All in all a small sacred ice for such a great product.

It works great, except for latch which attaches to your belt. It has a tendency to slip off your belt. I lost mine playing and told the club house but never got it back. I would like to order another one. but until the clasp is changed I don't think I will. I will go back to carrying my phone in my front pocket.

The link is excellent. Strongly recommend as it does a better job recording my shots than my iPhone. So nice not to recheck my phone to confirm it has all of your shots. Being able to mark easily the pin position was a huge plus. My Handicap has improved with the wealth of Data the system provides. Long time user and recommend this to all my Friends. One issue...recommend you wear a larger belt to secure the link or it has been recommended by other link users to find a way to secure it as it can be lost which is unbelievably upsetting. There's a way to get an approximate last location but no guarantee it will still be there and of course it was not. Wish there was a discount to replace as Arccos knows their is an issue which is why they added the find function. So again this is an excellent addition to the Arccos family and you will be happy. By the way the Arccos support team is amazing which is another reason to purchase this system.

Lost the link after about 2 months of use. Good device but design flaw. People recommend installing a laniard to it, and I should have done that but didn’t think of it.

Device worked well at first, but then failed to register the majority of shots on one of my rounds. I emailed customer service but did not get a response regarding this issue. Unfortunately, the device fell off my belt after the 5th or so round that I used it. The device fell off after hole 16. One would think that the device must have been secure to last 16 holes. I did not do anything out of the ordinary so I'm not sure if it was a user error or if the clip broke. I realized I didn't have my Link on hole 18. I reviewed my round immediately after I was aware I was no longer in possession of the device. By reviewing my round, I and knew the general area that it had fallen off, but not the exact spot. I re-traced my steps that day, but had no luck. I was hoping someone from my club would turn it in given I was not walking or riding in the cart in any isolated areas. However, after two weeks, I emailed customer service and they responded with a function of the app to "locate" my Link. I wish I had known this prior to waiting the 2 weeks. It is a great feature, I just didn't know it existed. I searched today at the last known location, based on this new found feature, but was unable to find it. Arccos did offer to provide a small discount on a new Link to replace my lost Link. I am debating on whether to purchase or not. I did like the fact that I didn't need to have my phone in my pocket and that I was able to connect to my blue tooth speaker seamlessly. But I'm not sure I would purchase again, even with the discount they offered. Based on the "find my Link" feature the device fell off my belt when I was riding in the cart from hole 16 to 17. With that knowledge, I would conclude the clip is not that secure (I was wearing a skinny belt that day) and I could easily lose the device again.
