“Why did I not know about this option before? Super...flippin'...easy...! We fly from BHX 2 or 3 times a year, and always use the parking. Previously, we'd used an off-site car-park which was about 15 minutes on a bus, and pretty much the best combination of value for money and convenience; and had always been happy with it. For some reason, I stumbled across this option and it was actually cheaper than our previous choice. Easy to find, easy to get in, easy to get to the bus stop to the terminal; the bus even tells you when to get off!
There was just one niggle however; much like many travellers in recent months; for various reasons, lots of flights are delayed. We had a four hour delay on our return flight, together with a further 20 minutes waiting on the plane for a bus to take us back to the terminal building. Nobody likes the delays; but what made it worse was that despite needing to provide flight numbers when initially booking, we weren't able to leave the carpark without being asked for extra payment. We were able to contact a human via the intercom on the ticket machine at the exit, and we were able to exit without paying anything further. Of course, it does actually warn about that on the paperwork that nobody reads; but it still seem a bit mean considering the price of the parking in the first place. Of course; it would be unreasonable to expect to get extra days on the parking for no extra payment; but a little flexibility due to un-avoidable delays would be much appreciated. The parking/transfer part was very good and highly recommended; the unpleasant surprise when trying to leave; not so much!”
“Number plate recognition did not work when we arrived although we had prepaid so we had to get a ticket. Very long wait for the bus. Had to speak over intercom on departure as we were asked to pay over £170 for stay. Resolved quickly.”
“ANPR did not work on arrival or departure. We arrived at about 05.15. No member of staff anywhere. Over 5 minutes to answer the phone. Eventually they raised the barrier, and we entered, and parked.
Same rigmarole on departure, with the man on the end of the phone asking 'what the ..... is happening now?' Again eventually he raised the barrier.
I will NEVER use Car Park 5 again - a total shambles, and we were blocking other people from gaining access to the car park”
“Convenient location although the barrier system didn’t recognise my number plate so wouldn’t let me exit and tried to make me paying for parking again even though I’d booked in advance. I had to call up on the intercom who told me they didn’t recognise my name or number plate but when I gave them the booking reference they then found it?”
