“Staff very polite, courteous & professional, the member of staff who booked us in noticed we had a blue badge,so he managed to find us a parking space right next to the main building, also explained the new procedure to us!From start to finish everything relatively easy,as it always is,when we have visited APH before!”
“Unfortunatelly, I have the following to submit
On 3 November at approximately 11:00 a.m., we parked at APH Birmingham and followed the clear instructions to board the shuttle bus to the airport, along with other passengers.
During the journey, the bus was stopped near ///hogs.lined.nurses, where the road had been closed by police due to a major gas leak. Although we were not initially aware of the situation, one of the passengers spoke with the police and relayed this information to the driver.
The driver stated that she would wait until the road reopened. After 10–15 minutes of waiting with no progress, one of the passengers asked if an alternative route could be taken. The driver replied that it would take around an hour, and appeared reluctant to take any further action. Passengers became increasingly anxious, as many were concerned about missing their check-in and flights.
After another five minutes, I approached the driver to ask whether she had contacted management for guidance. She did not provide a clear answer. When I suggested taking the alternative route, she again said it would take an hour. I urged her to proceed with the alternate route regardless, and eventually she agreed. We arrived at the airport around 20 minutes later.
Had I not intervened, it appeared the driver had no intention of attempting another route and was content to wait indefinitely for the road to reopen, despite the growing concern among passengers.
While I understand that the road closure was an unforeseen and exceptional event, I believe the driver should have shown more initiative and communication. In such circumstances, the priority should be to make every reasonable effort to get passengers to the airport on time, rather than waiting passively without updates or alternative plans.”
