About Stringers Music:

Stringers of Edinburgh is one of Scotland’s longest established and most respected musical instrument dealers. We supply violins, violas, cellos and bows of all levels and offer the highest standard in repair and restoration. Stringers London opened in 2007 and over the past thirteen years has grown to become one of London's leading violin dealers. In both shops, all of our staff members are proficient string players, many are former or current teachers, and always happy to help and advise. All instruments are set up by our team of expert restorers in our on-site workshops and played and assessed by staff before going on sale.

“I have recently started learning to play the cello and found out about Stringers through their website. I contacted them about visiting to buy my first cello. As I am a beginner I was looking for advice from a specialist who was able to demonstrate different instruments and bows to me. I made an appointment and explained that I was probably looking for a 7/8 sized instrument. When I arrived 4 cellos were tuned and ready for me to try. I was then left to play the instruments before the cello specialist returned and offered to play each instrument to me. I was then guided to select a bow and case in a similar fashion. Since purchasing my cello in January I have made further online purchases and would say that overall I am very happy with the service provided. I haven’t put a 5* rating as the loyalty scheme ‘Stringers rewards’ appears to have disappeared from the website. This was something that appealed to me and would certainly encourage me to use Stringers for all of my cello purchases.”

“Good service, they were knowledgeable and recommended strings for one of my violins that worked with its complex rich tones. They did some work to another violin I have (new post, bridge and fitted some replace emtn pegs I had), the workmanship is good and the instrument sounds great now! I'll likely be back at some point in the future for replacement strings or even a new bow or case at some point.”

“Stringers dealt with my viola repair very efficiently and within the time that suited me. I would have given 5 stars but the assistant in Edinburgh had said she would mail me an insurance estimate after taking some details and photographs. I have not yet received this, unfortunately.”

“Stringers were very helpful and accommodating while my son tried a selection of 3/4 violins. Having time and space to find the best tone and feel is important to him at this stage and particularly within this price range is essential from our point of view. Trying instruments on loan is also very useful. We are very happy with this new violin. As our son will need a full-size violin in a few years we would be happier with the price if the return value were higher.”
