“Unhappy with the service, as I literally did everything to get a tax refund from HMRC. I could have done the tax return form myself, as I called up and chased up HMRC. I could have saved 25% out of my tax refund, as to why I won't be using tax return ltd in the future.”

“Good to be paid for the rebate, pretty simply to do online. Draw back is £25 deducted off any total which can half your money returned. Helpful staff.”

“Unfortunately I didn't have the best experience I put my claim in March 2017 and only just got my rebate now June 2018. Was back and forth with agents as I wasn't being updated. Also was told they lost my receipts for my tool purchases and forms my employer signed to say they didn't contribute towards my tools. But got there in the end.”

“Did not know I WAS CHARGED 20% of my tax back! complete rip off, maybe 10%. My own fault I shown have read the million page terms and conditions! out of 660 pounds I saw 490!”

Hi Jonathan, thank you for your review. You wouldn't need to read our T&C's to know what our fee is - it is stated clearly throughout the claim process, including in a big green box on the final step, just before you press the 'submit claim' button. You do also have to tick to agree to our T&C's which are incidentally less then 1 page long, with the fee being the very first thing that is explained. This saves you having to scroll through millions of imaginary pages!

“I originally asked them to do my tax form because I had no clue what to do, I then downloaded appropriate form with help from a friend. I contacted tax rebates and told them I would do it myself, so I sent all appropriate forms to HMRC then after a few weeks get a msg from tax rebates to say they are dealing with my claim and HMRC . I then was awarded just under£600 rebate from which I ended up with just over £400 I think it's a total rip off!! Not only do they deduct their fee but also take tax as well. I wouldn't mind but I did the form filling etc and posted them off don't know what they did really.”

Hi Linda, with regards to your posting the forms to HMRC, it would have been us that you sent the forms to, otherwise we would not have been able to proceed with a claim. On the form itself, all you really have to do is sign it, so not much work is required. We then do everything else including all the calculations/reviews/checks etc to work out what you are entitled to, and recover the money for you.

“Very disappointed with a cheque for only £62.86 for what appears as just one years rebate. Now how do I claim for 2012-13....£23.08 2013-14...£44.84 2014-15....£71.70 I was led to believe that I could claim for 4 Yrs so am gutted that somewhere along the line I am owed and was hoping to reclaim a further £139.62. You were recommended by a colleague in the same job who got a large payout. I will not be recommending to anyone.”

Hi Julie, thank you for your review. Firstly, with tax refunds you cannot compare what you get with other people. It is not a blanket refund or bonus, it is tax you have overpaid. If your colleague got more money, it means they overpaid more tax then you did. Regarding the amount we have recovered, it IS for the full 4 years. There is a simple explanation which address the confusion over the multiple amounts you have listed above. In short, it is down to an error on your part in understanding how the calculation works. This is something we would happily have explained - and can still do so - had you contacted us first instead of going straight to a negative review.

Hi Babatunde, I am sorry you were not happy with our fee but it is made extremely clear throughout the process, so you would have been aware of what it was prior to proceeding with your claim.

“Time advised 12 weeks max It took well over this time. I was happy when I received my cheque but it was a low amount to what I would have expected”

“Your company claims to deal with requests for a tax rebate over a small period of 6-8 weeks. However it has taken your team almost 10 months to process my claim. I was pleased when I got my claim cheque, but when HMRC send me a copy of my tax rebate, the numbers didnt quite add up. Overall, I rate your company as poor, and will not reccomend you to family or friends.”
