I've been using Sonarworks to mix via my headphones for the past 6 weeks, and I've noticed a tremendous improvement in my final deliveries. I've made it a mainstay in my DAW template. I highly recommend Sonarworks for any serious recording producer, engineer, or composer in need of quality mixes and masters; without any unnecessary coloring from one's monitoring environment.

Sonarworks is a great product at a great price. It has been a game-changer for me. My temporary control room (which I'm using until the studio construction is complete) is now much more functional for tracking and mixing. Thanks Sonarworks, keep up the good work. I converted a two-car garage into a music studio. After soundproofing the space I used sound absorption panels from GIK. I also treated every corner with bass absorption panels. My room still had some significant dips and boosts in the low end that the physical panels couldn’t get rid of. Reference 4 did a great job making my mix position almost flat. My mixes do translate much better. I really trust what I hear now from my ADAM AX77s. I’m a very happy customer and can highly recommend the studio edition software. I think it’s crucial to have the reference measuring mic that comes with the package.

Really makes me mix with a lot of confidence. I used the demo on my Monitor system and then I purchased the Headphone edition as i changed the whole system. Always recommending it to my peers!

Total game changer for me... like a dark cloud has been lifted from over my speakers. It's restored the 60-80Hz bass that my room has been sucking out, and balanced the mid high frequencies to create a much more honest and wider reproduction. I have Focal Twin 6 BE's in a treated room, and somehow these speakers now sound 20 times better !

The Reference 4 with headphone calibration is amazing! I love what it has done to my sony mdr7506's and krk kns 8400. Plus I run Yamaha HS5's with a sub, and was thinking I needed to upgrade to a better monitor, but now I seeing my mixes translate better than ever so I wouldn't dare change the setup. I was considering adding more sound improvements to my room such as extra bass traps and diffuses, but now I dont want to change a thing. really amazing product, and your support staff has been awesome. Thanks for delivering on what you promised.

As an owner of iK multimedia's ARC II speaker calibration, I was curious as to how the two systems compared. First off, the Systemwide feature of Sonarworks makes it the winner - period. The abililty to apply the speaker correction pretty much anywhere in your system , not just in your DAW, makes it incredibly useful - for watching Youtube or listening to iTunes. The ease of the calibration is another winner - much, much easier than the ARC. And it sounds good. I feel I can trust this calibration more than the ARC. I have been a fairly longtime user of Sonarworks' headphone calibration system (I own a pair of calibrated Sennheiser 650s), and I like that now I have my headphone and speaker calibrations in one place. Prior to Systemwide, I had one monitoring chain setup up with the the ARC and one with the Sonarworks - which was a pain. So, I would highly recommend this software. I would also recommend that you acoustically treat your room as best you can first, to lessen the effects of reflective phase problems.

I have been using most of the Sonarworks products for about a year now and could not be happier, in fact, I don't know how I got along before without them. Thanks Sonarworks and keep up the excellent work!

This is the best investment I have ever bought for my studio. it is easy to set up, and does what it was made for very well. I would recommend this to anyone who wants better and neutral sound.

Heard and seen so much about the importance of having a flat, uncoloured monitoring environment from which to make sound EQ and mixing decisions. Yeah you could spend an undefined and unnecessary amount of time becoming 'accustomed' to the strengths and weaknesses of your specific ear phones through trial and error (all the while making tracks below your current ability levels) or you could just suck it up and send your cans off to the guys at SW for 3 weeks and let them show you the specific boosts and cuts down to the finest details and provide a custom calibration to counteract all of that. I learnt more in the 10 seconds of studying the custom curve they produced for me than I would ever have tangibly figured out from finishing 100 tracks. It was immediately obvious why my tracks have regularly been over cooked in the bass region and now the things I write translate so, so much better onto all other systems and speakers I test them on - there is still a small difference but this is minuscule - almost non existent. It's a pretty deflating and demotivating experience taking your tracks out of the studio for some final checks only to hear that your mix sounds nothing like you thought it did and certain elements have almost disappeared! Take the guesswork out of it. Remove one of the most significant barriers standing in the way of producing the music you want to. I've poured lots of money and time into my love of music in the last 15 years. If I lost everything and had to start again getting reference 3 and a pair of calibrated headphones would be one of the 1st 3 things I did.

Now I can use my "passive" headphone as a calibrated active top monitor, and this is more than great, exiting or inexpensive, this is wonderful!

I have been using Sonarworks headphone and speaker calibration software everyday for over a year now to mix my music and reference current hits. The software really helps to overcome the frequency response limitations of my headphones and speakers/room so that I can hear details that would otherwise go unnoticed. Great product!

My name is FJ Lamela and I have been a composer and producer since 1989. I'm very impressed with the Reference speaker calibration software. I have a medium size recording studio, acoustically treated. But always i feel some reflexions and some cancelations in sound. I Have tried to move, change orientation of speakers, keyboards, angles, etc, but the problem persist. Years ago,I bought a software for room eq(you know..),the software is ok,but the results were very disappointing. Although many sound problems ended, the resulting sound is like plastic, phasey, lifeless. I had many doubts before trying the Reference software, since many acoustic problems in a recording room may even worsen with eq. After testing Reference 3 software I have been positively impressed. 90% of the problems have been improved or completed. The sound is very natural, defined.I can not hear resonances or reflected sound. All is neutral and balanced in a positive way. It is a great product that does what it provides a better result than expected. And finally i need to say: 1.-The team of Sonarworks is so profesional and support is excelent. 2.-The help received through the mail has been great. I hope to continue to improve and make us interesting offers for the HD option.

Best calibration out there, i wouldn´t risk it with software and microphones from other companies, even if they are calibrated. I have noticed that the smallest of changes in your measurement process causes dramatic results to the end result, so I wouldn´t trust any other mic apart the one supplied by Sonarworks, calibrated by them to work on their software. I was having troubles at the beginning on having the software calculate the distance from the speakers to the hot spot, to the point that I thought that my room was just impossible (I already knew it was a bad room). So I decided to do things in a more precise manner. I got help to locate the listening spot with a marking on the floor, and measured how high were my ears when in my chair. I placed the mic on stand, and performed all measurments at (the same) ear level. When measuring the speakers up close, I made sure to measure the exact distance from the cone to the mic diaphragm, and used it for the other one. Guess what? Once I got precise, the software calculated the exact distance (and I mean exact) distance between each speaker, and same for the listening spot. So I managed to (finally) complete a measurement session and got my curves. I have attached some screenshots below of the Before/After/Correction curves. I was expecting a more drastic correction, because the room sucks, but the results with this curve are great. It´s cleared up the low end (it got rid of a null and a build-up) so now I know better what happens in there, and yes, as other say, it sounds more open. But to me this is because somehow it clears the centre image of trebble fuzz, and suddenly everything becomes more defined, specially the sides (where most of the trebble should be). I think a lot of this sparkly fuzz comes from having a monitor close behind the speakers (but not in the way of the cone and tweeters, ofc). Sonarworks got rid of that as well. Now I´m a bit annoyed as I have a slight volume difference (-1.23 dB) between the speakers, so I need to balance that and do a new measurement, but I´m so happy with the results that I really don´t care doing as many measurements as I need. Remember, with Sonarworks speaker calibration, precision is key!

Can't live without it! I gained an extra octave in the lows and the stereo imaging is now perfectly accurate. (see attached picture) If I'm on the road, I take my mic and calibrate the speakers there. This allows me to never feel "lost" in a room. Regarding its competitor IK Multimedia's ARC 2: I used the same mic and applied the same EQ, the difference between Sonar and ARC is night and day. Sonarworks is easier to setup and sounds way better. All that said, I'll be mixing on a flat curve for the rest of my life. Its a dream come true! -Karel Psota www.karelpsota.com

Except that I received the head phones files much later everything else was a breeze. Sonarworks does really work !! My studio monitors never sounded so nice and awesome. Specially since I am forced to place my speakers close to the wall due space constraint, Sonarworks was able to pin point that surge in the low end and neutralise it perfectly. This is a must have for every studio. Nuff Said
