“(Review by Matilda Ridge, aged 8) We never get so much snow in England, so when I saw snow I didn't know how deep it was! I loved doing snow angels in the deep snow and trying to get up again. My favourite activity was dog sledding because I am an animal lover. I made friends with all the dogs but I had a special dog friend that was cute and deaf. When we went snow mobiling we couldn't drive on our own because my sister and me are children but we got to ride with the snow mobile man. And when we got to the waffle place me and my sister both had a waffle with strawberry jam with chocolate sauce and cream and it was amazing. When we went to see the northern lights we took pictures of of the aurora and toasted marshmallows with Katie. I saw the tracks of an arctic hare. If you go skiing I would recommend the instructor Adam. He helps you learn how to ski quickly and safely. When we went to the waffle place again [Laktatjakko mountain lodge!] we drove up in a snowcat. It was really bumpy but somehow I managed to get to sleep because it was past midnight. The cabin was warm and cosy and my daim bar waffle made me go to sleep quickly. I also loved sleeping on the bottom bunk. I had a marvellous holiday. I want to go again soon. The only Bad Thing was going home! (Matilda, age 8)”

“We have just returned from a half term trip to Bjorklidden and had a fantastic time! We were a family of five with three daughters ranging from 12 -16, and everyone had a brilliant holiday. We usually book our holidays independently but decided to go with a company as this holiday was a bit different from our usual ones. We are so pleased that we chose Off The Map Travel as absolutely everything was very well organised for us by Katie and all aspects of the holiday ran very smoothly. We stayed in a Solhyllan cabin which was very spacious comfortable and warm . We ate in the Hotel where food was good and all the staff very friendly. We did a number of pre booked activities- all were great but our favourites were the Lights over Lapland ( top class photographers), the dog sledding and the Snowmobiling. Bjorklidden is also a really good place for beginner skiers as the slopes were fairly empty and skiing felt relaxed. We would thoroughly recommend Off the Map Travel. Both Katie and Jonny really care about whether their guests have a good holiday - doing things like texting to alert us when the Northern Lights became active in the evening to ensure that we didn't miss them- and we felt very well looked after throughout the holiday. They both have excellent knowledge of the local area. Would definitely use Off the Map for other holidays!”

“We had a wonderful time in Sweden with Off the Map. Everything went to plan and was incredibly well organised, from transfers to outings. Katie and Jonny were fantastic; available whenever we needed them and great tour guides. The cabins in Bjorkliden were very cosy and comfortable. We were lucky enough to see the Northern Lights but all the other activities kept us well entertained too - it was the perfect half-term adventure! F Short, London”

“Everything about the holiday was fantastic. The whole trip was planned perfectly, so we had time to relax and enjoy ourselves while taking in the beauty of Northern Sweden. I would highly recommend using this company to organise your Norther Lights experience.”

“Found off the map travel by luck Thank goodness we did. I don't know how any other company could have bettered our experience . I told Katie what we liked and a rough idea of budget and left it to her . What an amazing holiday it was faultless , everything was so well organised the hotels fantastic the trips amazing , all transfers to and from airport and hotels went smoothly, day time activities beyond expectations ,not one thing to complain about . I could not recommend Off the Map highly enough and wouldn't use anyone else when not if we go again. Special thanks to Katie who made it happen”

“Just back from a great trip to Bjorkliden and the Ice Hotel arranged through Katie at Off the Map travel. Based around activities we knew we wanted to do, Katie suggested visiting Bjorkliden and put together our itinery and we had a fantastic time. This was a great base for our holiday with lovely staff and guides, great excursions including husky sleds, snow shoe walking and a visit to the sky station including a delicious 3 course meal. Jonny and Katie are so enthusiastic about what they do and even let us know when the northern lights could be seen outside so we did not miss them as it was quite cloudy during our trip. Everything was pre arranged for us so all we had to decide on was what time to have dinner!! The kit hire recommended was easy to organise and exactly what was needed.”

“Wonderful bespoke trip to Lappland! We had the most amazing stay with off the map travel. From the first email right through to the last day of our stay we felt very well looked after. Katie and Johnny Added a very personable touch to our stay, giving us recommendations that suited us perfectly and it all just felt very individual. We spent 7 nights total in Sweden with 5 in bkorkleden where Katie and Johnny Had booked us on individual and group trips that we worked out with them, so we just went on trips that we wanted. In no part of our stay did we feel obliged to join a group activity that we hadn't chosen to book. An added bonus was to be able to catch up with Katie or Johnny most days and be greeted by them at the hotel. Very unexpected and a lovely surprise, all the hotel staff were very friendly too and the hotel itself had a very relaxed and friendly feel to it, all of our excursions were perfectly picked and we couldn't recommend them more. Highest on the list was light over Lappland (the photography tour which we did twice!) individual snow shoe trip, dog sledging, snow mobiling and Aurora sky station (with 3 course meal) were all brilliant. Highly recommend booking a trip through off the map, if you want something individual and a bit more of a bespoke trip, Katie and Johnny are your guys.”

“Wow, what an amazing service throughout the holiday. Everything went smoothly and according to plan. The Hotel and service was superb. The organised activities were excellent. We found Off the Map Travel an efficient and well organised set up. We would certainly use them again, would recommend them to family and friends, and would recommend them to anyone looking for an Aurora holiday in the snow”

“We went as a group of 4 ladies to celebrate a birthday. Everything went smoothly from start to finish. Johnny and Kate were a pleasure to deal with and very informative. Dial-a-flight were also fantastic and Deana even phoned before we left to wish us a great trip. The activities they arranged were all brilliant. Dog sledding, ski mobiles, photography lesson all come highly recommended. As does the trip to the sky station. The chalet in Bjorkliden was clean and warm and the hotel was fine. They certainly don't let you starve! I was lucky enough to stumble across Off the Map travel by chance but I can't recommend them highly enough for a trip to the Northern lights.Many thanks to them for such a great and memorable holiday.”

“We've just spent five days in Bjorkliden and it was fantastic. Off The Map travel organized everything for us and were very helpful from when we started planning the trip and throughout our stay. Unfortunately it's an expensive destination but if the cost isn't a problem, a trip to the Arctic in winter is highly recommended and Off The Map are the right people to take you there.”

“I went on a small group tour in Bjorkliden and it was truly amazing!! Jonny and Katie are extremely helpful and nice and it was great to be in an extreme and remote climate, but still be really comfortable. The impetus for the trip was to see the northern lights and I loved going out every night to spot them (we saw some truly amazing moments), but everything else was fun too, especially the dogsledding. In addition, the hotel was great and the food was extremely good, which was a nice bonus! Everything went smoothly and it was the perfect winter getaway!”

“Both my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the trip, Katie and John were extremely good at making sure we were well taken care of, made sure of our best chances to see the Northern Lights, which we did, and rearranged a trip at short notice when the weather closed in one day. Transfers were excellent, accommodation ( we had a cabin) was great. Altogether "Off the Map"...were... "Out of this World".”

“We visited Bjorkliden with Off the Map Travel in January for a special birthday. Desperately wanted to see the Northern Lights. From the very start the organisation was brilliant. Johnny and Kate from Off the Map Travel run an excellent company. Nothing was too much trouble. Everything ran to time. As vegetarians visiting Sweden we knew we might present a few challenges in the catering department but the chef in the hotel did not disappoint and the food was lovely. We were so lucky to see two amazing displays of the Aurora Borealis - breathtaking! We shall never forget it. It is incredibly cold so do go prepared for that but the scenery is beautiful - enjoy!”

“This was the frist time we use a travel agent to organize a trip (and to make a wish come true). It was worthy! Thanks to the Off the Map team, our experience to see the Northern Lights in Sweden was amazing. From our very first info request until the warm good bye at the hotel, we felt someone was really caring about us and about our trip. Off the Map work went beyond our expectations. It is clear to us that it´s not enough to have access to all information on the web or to the multiple offers you can imagine; Off the Map knows what they´re talking about and do care about the service they provide. “From our original contact with Off the Map Travel to our final departure back home, we never experienced such excellent personal service from a travel company. You were always available, from making sure we were on schedule with the daily activities, to running half a kilometer in the middle of the night to wake one of our party so they could see the Northern Lights.
