“So I had the best time ever on the South Africa Wild Adventure - the staff in all areas were brilliant and I did some amazing things whilst out there and really pushed myself out of my comfort zone.
A few points though unfortunately it seems the description of gap360s differs from what you actually get to do - for example you do not get to choose the activities in Hazyview - they are already decided to which I was disappointed as I wanted to do caving. However gekkoing was an awesome experience.
Also the food doesn't come close to what was described that we would actually received whilst there. The conservation/anti poaching side of things is also very minimal and I didn't feel like I made as much of a difference as I wanted to and was prepared to do.”
“I am so glad that I chose to travel through Gap 360! I know that the trip I booked would have been quite a bit cheaper if I had gone directly to the place that I volunteered at, but booking through Gap 360 was worth the extra money. They let me pay in monthly instalments, and it was so so easy to book travel insurance and flights with them as well. I looked around a bit before buying my flights through Gap 360, but they were the cheapest option as well!
My Travel Advisor did all the work for me, so I just paid for them and got sent the flight itinerary with all the details that I needed. I phoned him a few times to check some details and put my mind at rest (I had to take three flights to get there, 24 hours travelling so I was a bit nervous about going wrong) and he was so nice and reassuring. They know exactly what they're talking about as well, so having an actual conversation with an actual person was so helpful.
Having said that, their website was great as well. Once I booked, I was given a login and password to access all of my details, with an itinerary and travel details, emergency contact details, travel insurance details, flight details and payment details. It made it so easy having everything I needed all in once place. The added comfort of having the option to talk to a person if I needed it made the overall customer experience that they provided 5 stars! Would definitely recommend to a friend!”
“The trip was a once in a lifetime experience and I will never forget the memories I've made. The gap team were so helpful with organisation of flights/jabs/what to take/advice on how the country runs and what not to do when out there!
My only criticism is that the communication between gap360 and the game reserve, kwa madwala, was clearly not frequent. The trip is not really a conservation project as advertised but more of a safari holiday with a hint of anti poaching. Still a very worth while trip and amaaazing value for money.
Thank you!”
“I had an absolutely brilliant time on my two Gap360 trips (Buenos Aires Intro Week and BA to Rio Adventure)! So much was organised for me - transfers, flights, travel between countries, accommodation, activities etc... which made the experience really stress-free and relaxing. I met tons of amazing people from all over the world & packed so much in to my 4 weeks off work!
Before my trip Gap360 gave me loads of information about what my trip would include, and answered all of my questions - however stupid! I felt really prepared - which was great as a first-time solo traveller.
I'd definitely recommend Gap360 to anyone that wants to see the world! Cheers guys!”
“Quite simply the Grand European trip was the time of my life. I would definitely recommend to anyone. It had the right balance of culture, history, food, free time and party time.”
“I really enjoyed the Ultimate Oz experience. However one major issue occurred when we landed. One of the main reasons I booked this trip was so that when I landed there would be someone to meet me and not be left on my own in a strange city. You assured me there would be a shuttle waiting for me when I landed. However, there was no one. After asking another gentleman waiting for people if he knew what the gap 360 shuttle driver looked like he said he left after waiting for 5 minutes. We were a bit delayed at customs but only by about 15 minutes. In the end we were waiting 2 hours and they were closing part of the arrivals area. I even called the hostel to ask for them to come and get us but still no one came. In the end we paid $50 for a taxi. This is not acceptable as you assured me we would be greeted ans taken to the hostel. I would appreciate an explanation as soon as possible.
Many thanks
Hannah Augood”
Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear that you could not find the Sydney Shuttle representative when you arrived at Sydney Airport. As detailed on your airport transfer voucher which was sent to you before your travels, Gap 360 do not operate the shuttle service ourselves and customers need to go to the Meeting Point at the airport and look out for the Sydney Shuttle company representative in a yellow vest who would direct you to your shuttle bus.
The service operates 24 hours a day and the buses were operating as scheduled. It is a shame you did not contact the Gap 360 24/7 support number at the time so that we could have assisted you immediately. As a gesture of goodwill we will be happy to refund you the cost of your taxi fare and a Trip Organiser will reach out to you via email to arrange this.
We are pleased to hear you have enjoyed the first week of your Absolute Oz Jobs programme and we are sure you will enjoy the many adventures ahead of you in Australia!
“I have had an amazing experience with gap 360. I decided only roughly a month an a half to do the Ultimate Oz program, and from the moment I rang them up, they were friendly, helpful and amazing to deal with. I have been confident the entire trip and was not nervous leading up to my departure - quite excited actually! Any questions I had were answered immediately, if not quickly, and to the point where I had no concerns about ANYTHING!
The course and its contents were brilliant. At first, everyone is a little awkward, as you'd expect, but our group leaders broke down those barriers fairly quickly and soon everyone was getting along great, enjoying what was organised for us and generally having a good time. Even now it's over, I'm now travelling with a few of the people from my group, have plans to skydive with some of the others and hope to stay in contact with even more to maybe meet up in the future.
Wake-up hostel in very big and busy and I found it a great starting place, though I chose not to stay there longer due to it being a bit pricey. Very clean, though, and all the facilities you'd need.
All in all, highly recommend, a great start to what I hope will be a great year and couldn't ask for more considering the very reasonable price! Thank you!!!”
“Lots of Emails to help me understand whats happening and to make sure I feel very welcome and well informed for the Trip.
Maybe a lot of confusing emails to take in and plan.
Very helpful however.”
“I went on the 'South African Wild Adventure Trip' in August 2015 and although Gap360 themselves were very good and helpful, their sub contractors were not. Some of the staff at Kwa Madwala where we stayed for the majority of our trip were very rude and not very well organised. The drivers/guides were awesome but it was just the people in charge that were rude. We also got advised to exchange money ILLEGALLY for when we went to Mozambique which could have ended very badly.
Gap360 suggest taking £200 spending money for the four weeks. However I and many others found we spent almost twice that. This is mainly because although we had been told that ALL meals apart from meals in Mozambique would be included, this was not true. We were expected to provide meals for ourselves most weekends and a few other random days. Also, we got some very strange and small meals when they were provided. 4 mini sausage rolls, yoghurt and honey was our lunch one day..
We also had a major water shortage that meant we were not able to shower - or had drinking water for four days. This was when the man who was meant to be looking after us chose to go away for the weekend. When one of the drivers realised he was very helpful and easily got us more drinking water and took us to another place in the reserve to have a shower.
Saying all this, I still had a wicked time, just depends if you have the patience to deal with the lack of organisation.”

Our Operations Director will follow up on the relevant points with our team in South Africa, and she'll be in contact with you directly soon.
“The team were really helpful prior to going on the trip, I felt that they were readily available. However, the information provided about the trip was very misleading/simply incorrect. Many of the items stated in the trip information simply were not provided on arrival. I enjoyed the trip but felt that it was not right that many aspects of the trip that I'd paid for were not delivered.”
“When I visited the gap360 office they were so helpful and friendly and were happy to answer even my silly little questions! They have made everything stress free for me”
“Gap360 have been nothing but excellent with their information. They have been on call if I needed any help. I rate them very highly which is why I have booked my next trip through them and will continue to do so. They make things that much easier.”
“Gap 360 were so amazing from the get go!! Before I left they always assured me or answered any questions I had. Unfortunatly 2 days before I was meant to fly out, the Bangkok bombings took place but they still insured that I would be safe and it wasn't near I was staying. Once I got to Bangkok the greeting i received was overwhelming !! It was amazing. Throughout my teaching project I became great friends with my coordinators, they were simply the best! They made me feel so safe in Thailand. They not only continuously took me out but introduced me to their friends. The whole experience was beyond amazing. I feel like it was worth every penny, and id pay more for the experience again !!!”
“I had a great time on the wild adventure however would recommend that additional days in Kruger should be included. I would also recommend some of the additional activities such as the panarama tour.
wgule staying at bush however we were at time made to feel very uncomfortable and a nauses to the management. The management and bush house team we also heard often discussing members of the group and also moaning about members of the group to other group members, which I consider very unprofessional. On one occasion we were told that we did not deserve to eat! We were also referred too as children which as an adult is incredibly insaulting. We also received no bush safety talks and we did not get to choose activities in hazy view.
Food was also not included at hazy view and we therefore had to purchase our own food. When I booked the trip your website said food was included everywhere except Mozambique. We also ended up paying a lot of money for food in Kruger as the food money allowance did not stretch very far. I would recommend that this is mentioned when discussing budgets with future customers as it was an additional cost.
Mozambique was fantastic and the locations is amazing however I would suggest the time there should be extended as it is a very long journey. We were also told that we could exchange money before leaving SA and were taken to a car to swap money with a women. When arriving back from Mozambique there was a sign to say that this was illegal. However staff had recommended this and also not made us aware.
The microlight was also incredibly disorganised with us completing the mirco light on the last two days. Some people including myself completed it just before leaving for the airport. I believe this was drive by the fact that there was not a pilot and guests in the main lodges were always prioritised.
Overall the activities were great however the management were often unprofessional and therefore created negativity on the trip. Communication between bush house staff and guests was also awful with us spending a lot of time not knowing what was happening. I would consider doing this trip again however not on the same reserve.”
Thank you very much for sharing your thoughts about your recent trip to South Africa. I am really pleased to hear that overall you enjoyed the South Africa Adventure. We really appreciate your feedback and recommendations on how we can improve the programme for future customers. Our Operations Director, Jane McLellan will discuss all your comments with the team in South Africa and she will make sure each point is followed up on, and will be in touch soon. Thanks
“Can't fault gap 360 at all! The trip was the most amazing well organised 4 week of my life! The guide we had made it even better! There was nothing I would change or improve on the trip and can not recommend it enough!”
“amazing experience! throughout the trip i did things and saw things i never dreamed id be able to! I felt so lucky throughout the whole trip that i was able to experience these things and would definitely recommend this trip to anyone thinking of doing it. I had never travelled alone before and was slightly anxious before i arrived but my guide and the people on this trip were so amazing and i have made friends for life! Our guide Chai couldn't have been better and deserves so much recognition for making the trip as incredible as it was!”
