“I'm giving these a try as work trousers. I have two pairs of moleskin breeks from another manufacturer that allowed leg cooling and knee protection quite nicely for about two years before the cotton moleskin material began weakening and allowing splits in the material when squatting and kneeling. I'm hoping the tweed material of this Walker and Hawkes alternative will prove to be more lasting. Like the previous moleskin breeks, the velcro on the knees had to be resewed to permit more tightening in order to keep the tweed breeks up above my calves. Also, unlike my old moleskin breeks, the new tweed pair are a little tight on the butt when bending over or squatting. Pockets are relatively shallow and will, I'm sure, eventually need rebuilding on the inside to repair wear holes. Belt loops are obviously made for dress belts and not wider work belts (very tight belt fit). Despite these criticisms (valid only if breeks are used for everyday work wear), the basic breek design seems sound and the outer material appears quite strong. Perhaps in the long run Walker and Hawkes will come out with another model of tweed breek designed for more active, everyday use.”
