I infer feed-wasting mindset might also be driven by present day feeders' own food-wasting behaviours - accustomed from childhood to not clearing their plates, eating whatever they like when the like, throwing out household food just because they don't particularly want to finish it up. In the companion animal world this translates into overfeeding the bowl rather than the animal with similar negative consequences.”
