“I'm guessing that the tea was pressed into a brick a little bit too early, once I had rinsed it I could smell a faint dry fishy aroma, due to the fact that the tea had probably not been left to dry for long enough, it is difficult to pick out any of the middle notes of the tea unfortunately, which is a bit disappointing, so I have decided to age the tea for another two years in a non airtight container to dissipate some of the fishiness, hopefully by then the tea will have a more pleasant flavour.
I did also purchase other teas at the time: a rooibos and a herbal tea, with which I'm very pleased.”
Yes, the odour comes for the bacteria used to produce the tea, you are right it will go in time. We are sorry about this, from time to time a batch comes through with this odour.
