“I understand that people love making their own versions of this - the fauxdori brigade, and I love the fact that the company encourages this because they appreciate people's creativity and see it as a sincere form of flattery, but unless you are very pushed for cash, I can't see why you would want to make your own. The simple design of this is hard to better. Plus the quality of the paper is everything that people say it is. I love the combination of elegance and slight Heath Robinson in the rubber band system. It is, however, a new form of deathliness for a stationery addict like me - so many accessories to pile up for it!”

“Tres bon Notebook et compagnon de tous les jours. Facile et pratique de prendre des notes ou d ecrire quelques memos. Design simple et de tres bonne qualite. Between "Nice to have" and "Need to have", The Midori Notebook is an absolut "a Must to have". It will very fast become your "best friend" on a trip. JUST GREAT.”

“I know I'm going to be in the minority here but these Traveller notebooks don't really do it for me. I chose the black leather cover and a red elasticated tie - so far, so cool, but the knot that keeps the tie in place sits right in the middle of the right-hand page which results in a lump in the paper. OK, I suppose, if you're sketching with a pencil but I only use my pads for writing with a fountain pen. The cover itself isn't rigid enough to use as support so one has to write with the pad on a table. That wouldn't be a problem if it opened flat but because of the knot, it doesn't. In conclusion, it's pretty in its own low-tech way but it isn't something I think encourages beautiful penmanship.”
