4.3 Rating 26 Reviews
The cream is mild and did not cause irritation. Sadly, after 4 sessions of treatment, there was no change.

Hi Deborah, I am sorry to hear that you have not found Aldara cream to be an effective treatment for you on this occasion, but am glad to hear that this has been gentle and not caused irritation. Our patients have reported this treatment to be very effective and efficient in treating your condition. It works quickly as it is applied directly to the affected area where the active ingredient (podophyllotoxin) attacks the virus (human papillomavirus HPV) directly. However, as this has not been as successful as initially hoped, our support team have contacted you to find out a little more about your experience with this treatment, to enable our clinical team to directly provide you with some personalised advice.

Hi Michael, Thank you for sharing your experience with us. I am sorry to hear that this treatment has not been as effective as anticipated and we are keen to understand more to help find a suitable solution. Warticon is a known and effective topical treatment for genital warts and when applied directly to the affected area twice a day for three consecutive days per week, Warticon can completely clear genital warts within four to five weeks. The active ingredient within this treatment is podophyllotoxin and it attacks the virus (human papillomavirus or HPV) which causes the wart directly, this causes the virus to be unable to divide and spread, over time this will cause the symptoms to subside and the wart tissue to fall away to allow the healthy tissue to grow in its place. The treatments ultimately work by supporting or triggering your body's response to the virus HPV that causes warts) to fight it off. Much in the same way as you would fight off a cold or flu. There a multiple factors that can influence the removal of warts including the number and how long they have been there. Additionally, your own immune system and features affect this such as your overall health and levels of stress. Aside from topical treatments, you can also seek physical removal of warts through surgery (burning them away or slicing them off using a blade or a laser) or freezing (killing the tissue so it eventually falls off). This may be necessary if you have a large number of warts, topical treatment is not suitable or it has not been effective and your GP or sexual health clinic can advise you if this is the case. However treating genital warts can be difficult as the HPV virus, the underlying cause of genital warts, cannot fully be removed from your body and therefore reoccurrence can be likely. I can see that you have been using this treatment previously and have advised that this is been successful in clearing the outbreak, We are keen to ensure that the treatment we provide is best suited for our patient's individual needs and our clinical team will be happy to speak with you, in confidence to help provide further assistance or information regarding your treatment. Our support team will be in contact with you shortly to help resolve this matter directly with you to advise on how to help ensure you receive effective treatment.

Thank you for your review; Treating genital warts can be difficult. The treatments ultimately work by supporting or triggering your body's response to a virus (HPV that causes warts) to fight it off. Much in the same way as you would fight off a cold or flu. There a multiple factors that can influence the removal of warts including the number and how long they have been there. Additionally, your own immune system and features that affect this such as your overall health and levels of stress. The treatments do not fully remove the virus as this lives in the body and reoccurrence can be likely. I can see that you have been using this treatment for a little while now. It would be helpful to see some more images of warts so we can advise further. though ultimately I would suggest seeing a doctor that specialises in genito-urinary medicine as they may wish to undertake blood tests or physically remove warts. Our support team will be in contact with you shortly to help resolve this matter directly with you to advise on how to help ensure you receive effective treatment.
