On each product webpage, we list the ingredients to help you make a choice over whether the treatment is suitable for your needs, and on the Anbesol product page, Alcohol is listed as one of the main ingredients.
In principle, alcohol extracted from grapes or dates is prohibited for consumption regardless of whether it is intoxicating or not. However non-intoxicating alcohol derived from other sources can be consumed under certain situations.
Anbesol Teething Gel contains ethanol alcohol, which is a fermented mix of sugar, grain and water, and can be considered slightly differently to an alcohol produced from fruits.
The amount of alcohol within each administered 0.25ml is minimal and the chance of intoxication is improbable. There are also limited other treatments similar to this that do not contain alcohol and therefore when used for a medicinal purpose could be considered halal.
