Very dark and a strong flavour with hints of treacle. A really nice dark ale.

As the Abbot of Mount St Bernard's observes, this beer can be described as 'liquid bread'. Highly nourishing and full of the fresh flavours of natural ingredients. Palate rather reminiscent of McEwan's Champion Ale, but even more to be enjoyed slowly. Goodness of all kinds, in a glass.

A lovely stouty beer. It's strong, so don't be surprised about the small bottles . . they pack a punch. A delight to try England's only Trappist ale, I commend it to you (and it may even win you brownie points with the guy upstairs, because your supporting the monks!)

Bought for my husband who grew up in Whitwick near the monastery and subsequently went on to spend considerable time travelling to and from Belgium

English Trappist ale that is up there with the Belgian ones. One of my favourites. Slightly sweet, earthy tones, prunes, licorice and honey. Very pleasant. I will reorder
