Bought a treadle feeder after a recommendation on Facebook. We had rats blatantly feeding with our chickens. The chickens quickly got the hang of the new feeder, our smaller bantam (800g) can use it but the rats cannot not. Very pleased and hopeful the unwanted rodents will have moved on, certainly not seen any the past few days.

well made & works well, Its taken awhilw for the chickens to get used to the noise of the open & shut feeder door.

The chickens refuse to use it due to the metal on metal bang every time they step off it. I use standard layers pellets, but they get stuck and don't come through to the feeding trough. On top of that, the rats have worked out that the trough can be accessed easily without the peddle being weighted down by a chicken. So, overall, I'm not that happy. Good customer service, but the product doesn't work for me.

Excellent feeder: we have had one for over a year now and no sign of rust, it just gets a bit muddy. The chickens quickly learned how to use it - and are still the only ones who can use it. It works well with layer pellets; I also tried with grain but this comes out too easily. One of our chickens worked out that she can get all the grain in the feeder to flow out if she simply rummages her beak through the grain!

This is perfect as not too big. Mu chicken got the hang of it within 2 days and the rats went away with in the same time frame. A bit noisy initially with the treadle banging on a hard surface and the lid for the food banging shut which spooked my chicken at first. She's now got the hang of it (I was surprised how quickly) - I did have to show her that this is where to find her food by pressing on the treadle with my hand but once she understood she could domit herself.

So far so good. Bought these to deter rats from eating my chicken and duck food and I doubted my birds could learn to use them - but a few days in and they seem to have got it with a little encouragement.

Easy to set up. Took a few days for the chickens to get used to it, but so much better than my other open feeders and no more magpies or rooks
