“My biggest concern in purchasing this hat was the reviews about size so here are my measurements and thoughts about the size: The L size has a maximum circumference of roughly 23in (following the lower seam of the actual hat part -- above the ear flaps), without stretching the elastic. It is probably a bit too tight if your head is between 23-24in (though the size guide says L/XL goes up to 24"), even if it would theoretically fit because of the elastic. There is about 1.5" of adjustment in the back (again, not accounting for the stretch of the elastic in the adjuster), so I'd say the size for an L is for people with 21.5-23" heads. Please keep in mind that it will also be tighter with the ear flaps up. I also haven't washed it yet and cannot say if that changes anything. That being said, my head is about 22.5" (loosely measured, I didn't wrap it super tight around my head) and my partner is closer to 23". The hat fits me perfectly fine, but is too tight for my partner. I think the difficulty is in the angle with which you measure your head. If you measure your head just above your eyebrows, as the directions say, and measure just above your ears, then you'll probably have a good measurement. Essentially, measure where you'd like the bottom of the actual hat bit to go. Review: I've enjoyed this hat so far! It's been exposed to snow, wind, and low temps (I'm in the midwest) and I haven't had too big of an issue. There is an odd thing with my hat where one ear flap sticks out a little so that ear gets colder than the other ear. The brim is 2" at its longest point and is surprisingly sturdy and helpful. There's a wire in it that keeps it stable when you want to use it and you can adjust the wire how you want. The ear flap section of the hat covers my ears and covers up to the base of my head (does not warm the neck). The ear flaps aren't tight around your ears so if you're facing the wind, you will feel it (only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5). However, because it isn't too tight on the ears, the hat doesn't push on my glasses which is a step up from the beanie I used to wear, so it's a bit of a tradeoff. I hope this is helpful to someone!”

“Does a great job of keeping cold and rain out. Good fit, not too tight but doesn’t feel it will go anywhere. Helps to make headphones clearer by reducing wind noise too.”
