I purchased these socks for an offshore sailing race. They performed well when sitting on the rail, legs hanging over the side of the boat. My legs got splashed numerous times and my feet stayed warm and dry.

I have hiked ~400 miles of AT and Potomac AT Club maintained trails (VA/MD/PA) in each of the all weather ankle length socks- with and without hydrostop. (That's approximately 200m in one sock or the other.) I prefer without (and give the standard 6/5 stars). They were recommended by an AT thru hiker I met in Vermont, on the Long Trail, as his only sock. I dreaded the $35 price tag. These are now my go to sock for keeping my feet dry- dry from sweat, dry from rain, dry from mid foot puddles. I hike in trail running shoes (Kona and Altra). I slept in the knee high version during winter for two years before buying these low cut socks. Unless I submerge the sock completely, my feet are NEVER wet. My R big toe freakishly eats through socks and shoes at a rate that made me hesitant to buy a pair of these thinking the membrane would fail in

I used these socks on cycle tours in torrential Scottish rain and at the end of the day my feet were completely dry. So good I bought a second pair, and the gloves too! well done Sealskinz
