A freezing cold day, 0-2c, puddles on the pontoon the exterior of the sock was wet and damp but my feet stayed dry and comfortable. Not totally warm but acceptable as I rowed for 2 hours. A huge difference as I would normally have suffered a great deal with cold toes. Plus the socks thickness was very similar to sports socks so I had no trouble with the skiffs built in shoes/ trainers, I have size 11/ 46EU and the skiffs shoes are 46EU. Note: +They are not too long on the calf.

I bought these as part of an experiment to assess the waterproofness of some boots. They are waterproof and kept my feet warm when walking through long wet grass. They appear well made, although possible fragile. I felt that I had broken an internal seam at the top of the sock when pulling one of them on. Seems to have no adverse impact on their performance. My main concern about these socks is how they feel. The toe box is symmetrical and this gives an odd feeling when using boots that fit well. It's ok in wellie boots, but I would not be confident in undertaking a long fast walk in these. They were bought for keeping my feet dry in wet / cold conditions, where boots may wet out. also for controlling condensation build up in boots when using yeti gaiters. Last winter using yetis were great, but the hot house conditions they created made the sympathetic lined boots very smelly. This winter I will use yetis, new sweet smelling boots and sealskinz socks to see if this avoids the smell problem this year.
