We do sometimes see this with this style of rug, especially when they have straight lines within the pattern.
This occurrence is not uncommon in rugs or carpets with a certain type of pile. It's often just a result of the fibres settling and shifting. Naturally, on a carpet with a moving pile, the lines will never be completely straight due to the nature of the pile structure.
I would normally suggest, brushing the pile back straight using a 'stiff bristle brush'.
