Bought this as i found the hard filtering system quite slow and you have to keep changing the carbon filters for approx. 1200ml of alcohol. Albeit it takes a while to filter the alcohol at least you can set it up and leave it until the complete batch (approx 7L) filters through. This i do twice as advised in the video. Do one overnight then again with second filtration. Also i found that the alcohol seems much smoother with this system. As most of my friends drink whiskey straight this gives much better taste. Also easy to clean, so very happy with my purchase.

i bought the filter with my t500 from here great service and great product, but when it came to filter i just could not get it to work, i watch the video from the site and even called the shop the staff where ok, but could not figure out how it was going so slow, to the point where they told me 1 customer waited 2 day for it to go through the filter! So this is what i did i watch the video again in the video it talks of a wire mesh at each end in the new kits they don't have this it is a metal disc with about 8 holes in it, this is what causes the problem it blocks with the carbon and stops the spirit running. My fix was to buy rust proof stainless steal mesh (Davids ISOPON Aluminium Mesh) from any good car repair shop in uk.Exhaust department ;) I created a small sausage the the length of my finger nail to fit inside the filter at bottom which keeps the carbon away from the base plate. And hey presto the spirit runs freely through the filter and will do the times mentioned in the video. Hope this helps others. I don't add the filter paper as this slows the run i just run my spirit through a coffee filter after, as you will get a few carbon bits in your alcohol.

Basically a nicely finished tube with some carbon, a little expensive. Filtration is fine with no paper filter, you have to tap out the airlocks as there are many. Filtration with paper is frustratingly slow, sometimes half a litre per 12 hours. Too slow for me!

I have used the Still Spirits EZ Filter prior to buying this, but have never really been impressed with the results as the alcohol either flooded through it or run at such a small trickle that I simply couldn't be bothered with it. I loved the look of the Z Filter and wanted to get my hands on one, but they were discontinued some while ago. I suddenly stumbled across the Spiritworks Granular filter and placed an order which arrived promptly (as always!). After reading the instructions, I loaded, flushed and got some coffee filter in place into my new filter. I filtered about 7L of 42% which did take over a day to pass through (My coffee filter i'd imagine slowed it down) but I wasn't unduly worried as the longer the alcohol was in contact with the carbon the better in my opinion. After bottling, I tried a taste and Oh my, this simply has to be the best batch I have made since I started using the T500. It is so smooooth and there is no harshness whatsoever - an amazing neutral spirit. This is a great item and I can't recommend it enough - try it and see!. Also a massive thanks to Richard for his help, support and advice!
