Purchased this in error as my partner likes fruit beers/lagers etc. She wasn't to impressed with it...However it is possibly the best beer I have ever tasted and everyone else who has tasted it rates it very highly. As always followed instructions except only added 2/3rds of the hops. Bottled and left for approx 6 weeks Strong but not over powering with a faint hint of strawberries. 2nd kit now on....

On delivery I decided to replace the Strawberry Flavour Sachet with a couple of 'fresh' vanilla pods ...... I was looking to make a beer that had taste like a Vanilla Porter.... On removal of the hops in line with instructions I left the beer on the lees a total of 3 weeks prior to racking on to the Vanilla pods and seeds and leaving for a good month to settle and absorb the flavour of the Vanilla..... Transferred into 2 ltr water bottles and left alone in the shed for a further month. I use a soda syphon to introduce the correct amount of CO2 and the beer on drinking is superb....Using the 2 ltr bottles the beer has chance for further settlement will use this process for future brews and ditch the pressure barrel.

Does not get any better than this. Wife loves it as do I. Prefer it served at slightly below room temperature rather than cold.

Bought this kit expecting a Lefe Dark ale. Not disappointed but slightly heavier than this commercial brew. This is an extreamly well produced kit with plenty of malt extract ( two full bags) and large yeast sachet and large priming sugar supplied. Kit produces full bodied dark beer with excellent flavour with strawberry hint. Very satisfiying beer every pint worth the effort. Am buying again as very pleased with result. I am now bottling all beer now as unlimited capacity, no wastage and can go in fridge. Well sealed barrels give ale a limited life and beer tends to go flat towards the end.

The subtlety of the strawberry flavour with the depth of the stout makes this a very satisfying drink. Not a quaffing beer - a dessert to be savoured. Received full marks from my chief taster and critic (next door neighbour) who nw keeps hinting that more would be in order. We agreed it was like Mackeson with a hint of fruit and very good indeed. I found it a little confusing, however, that the malt said Russian Imperial Stout on it, as I was unsure what class, A or B this should be regarded as when reading the instructions.

Strawberry taste evident but not overpowering. A beautiful strong dark beer. Will definitely be back for more. This whole range is fantastic.

well hopped beer with strawberry tast that hangs around in the background without being overpowering. After only 2 weeks in the pressure barrel has been described by one friend as "the best beer they've ever tasted". Planning the next purchase in the Beerworks range.....
