Hi Ben, thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. This IBC is designed to have vertical protection bars on the side. The reason for this is that the vertical bars will provide the same amount of protection. The vertical bars that are placed on full cages are often a contamination hotpot, which is why the manufacturer opted against using a full cage.
