100% Tinta de Toro (Tempranillo) aged in new French oak for around 18 months.
The name Numanthia comes from an antique city, whose people heroically resisted the Romans, choosing to die rather than surrender. The vines, due to the high altitude of the vineyard, were not affected by Phylloxera and the vineyard has been in existence for 1000 years.
The Numanthia style relies on a selection of exceptional ungrafted vineyards, mostly aged 70 to 100 years. These low yielding vines offer, year after year, extreme concentration of fruit with intensity and structure. Producing a solidly built wine, with tannins that are both sharp and well integrated. This is wine for ageing in your cellar or if you do drink soon we would recommend an hour in the decanter. To be served with food.
