Cotes Du Rhone M. Chapoutier Rouge 2024 Reviews

Côtes du Rhône, Chapoutier, Southern Rhône, France, 2024
Grapes: 50% Grenache, 50% Syrah
A superb wine with rich aromas of dark red fruits, earthy minerals and spice. Soft and round on the palate with smooth tannins, rich blackberry and cherry fruit, hints of liquorice and a substantial finish.
The vineyards of the red Côtes du Rhône extend over the “communes” of Sablet and Séguret, on a silty and stony subsoil coming from the former bed of the Rhône. The grapes are hand harvested at optimum maturity. Vinification: 100% destemming. Maceration lasts 15 days and procures a good tannic structure which permits the ageing and guarantees the stability of the wine. The wine is aged in vats to develop a good expression of the fruits.
Food Match: Serve with grilled or roast meats, especially lamb, pizza, pasta and barbecue.

Came across Michael Chapoutier wines in 1995 on a short holiday in the Drome Provence, and used to drink it with Dinner on the following 10+ years. in those days it was Tricestan local wines (an excellent drink with supper or even extended dinners) All stopped due to a cooling water leak in the Drome on a mini power station. Took up residence in the .hermitage obviously returned again to the Lower Drome.
