Two Rivers Convergence Sauvignon Blanc, Marlborough, South Island, New Zealand, 2022
Grape variety: 100% Sauvignon Blanc, sourced from the Awatere and Wairau valleys
Lightly pressed, the juice was fermented cool, predominately in stainless steel to maximise fruit purity and distinctive varietal character. A small portion was fermented in concrete egg tank and clay amphora to add a grainy texture to the palate. The wine was then aged on light yeast lees for three months to gain complexity and increase mouthfeel.
Bright straw in colour with an explosive bouquet of paw paw, Kaffir lime, capsicum, and stone fruit that mingle with subtle notes of coconut and dill. A dry palate with persistent flavours of blackcurrant, banana passionfruit, cucumber, and green olive are revealed alongside bright, mouth-watering acidity.
"Still very youthful, this vivacious wine is highly aromatic and full-bodied, with very good intensity.” – Michael Cooper | Rated: 4.5/5 stars
An excellent match for shellfish, fish dishes, Pacific & Asian fare.

This is a really classy Sauvignon with a hint of smokiness that reminds me a little of Sancerre but with the fruit quality of New Zealand. Worth paying a little extra for that extra dimension.
