Amirault Rose d Equinoxe Bourgueil, Loire, France, 2021
Grape: Cabernet Franc, organic, 1.5ha vineyards worked according to the lunar cycle, manual harvest, yield 25hl/ha, direct pressing, alcoholic & malolactic fermentations in barrel, 6-12 months ageing in oak.
The completely dry Rosé d’Equinoxe is absolutely fantastically gastronomic, it is almost a blanc de noir. The juice is whole-cluster pressed, settles overnight, then is racked into 400L French oak barrels for fermentation and ageing.
Lightly coloured thanks to the absence of maceration or trituration of the grape. Creamy and buttery palate with brioche flavours. Floral notes of acacia, white fruits and accents of blood orange. The mouth is round, vinous, endowed with a unique persistence from the Cabernet Franc. Exuberant in its youth, able to become more refined through the years with amber shades. Apogee: from bottling to 5 years after vintage.
"The 2021 Rosé d'Equinoxe is a very pale pink rosé that undergoes malo and barrel fermentation. It has round shoulders and is pure, full bodied, very tranquil and smooth. There's a sense of creaminess to this wine with a light cherry and pear character. I love the savory style of this wine and its rich texture. I don't really like rosé but I really like this. The fresh 2021 vintage provides racy acidity on the finish, supplying line and length."
