Gris Blanc Gérard Bertrand, IGP Pays D'Oc, South of France, 2022
Grapes: Grenache Gris 80%, Grenache Noir 20%, hand picked from vineyards mostly in the Tautavel commune in Roussillon. Matured on its fine lees for several weeks before bottling.
The colour is crystal clear in appearance. The nose shows real fruit character. On the palate there is a vibrant freshness, highlighting the fruity flavours. Very minerally and zesty on the finish.
One of the most dynamic and brilliant winemakers from the South of France, where he owns no less than seven estates among the most prestigious terroirs of Languedoc Roussillon, Gérard Bertrand was named in 2012 as the "European Winery of the Year" by Wine Enthusiast and "Red Wine Maker of the Year" by the IWC.
Winemakers Notes: Average yield: 40h/ha Soil: clay limestone Vinification: The grapes are harvested by hand and pressed straight away. All the grape juice transfer before fermentation is done under a protective carbonic gas atmosphere. Fermentation at low temperature, 15° to 18°C in stainless steel vat. Wine is then matured on fine lees during several weeks with a weekly pump over.
Serve chilled as an aperitif, with mixed salads or hot appetisers, oven-baked fish and spicy dishes such as Thai curry or tagines.
