Grape variety, 100% Pinot Noir with 12 months in second use French oak barrels.
This medium bodied red wine is bright ruby red in colour, on the nose it is elegant and intense, with aromas of blackberry, fresh strawberries and raspberries, with soft touches of earth and graphite, finishing with elegant touches of cedar and mocha from maturation in French oak barrels. On the palate soft and mature tannins, with supple red fruits, supported by smoky notes and a crispness on the finish.
In the Leyda Valley, with its cooling ocean breezes, the Pinot Noir grapes ripen slowly. They develop intense berry fruit characteristics whilst retaining all their natural freshness. The resulting wine was aged in French oak barriques to considerably increase its complexity and texture. Deliciously supple, with ripe, smoky fruit flavours balanced by refreshing acidity.
This grape variety will enhance the flavour of whole grains, all kinds of mushrooms and herbs, and sushi. In broader terms, this is a wine that will make any white meat look good, as well as soups, stews and flavourful fish dishes. With cheeses, it’s good next to dry and tough ones like Edam.
