Beaujolais Nouveau Jean Loron, Beaujolais, France, 2024
Grape: 100% Gamay, unoaked
Situated between the Rock of Solutré in Mâconnais and Moulin-à-Vent in Beaujolais, the Maison Jean Loron is one of the oldest and largest vineyard owners in the south of Burgundy. Its wine-growing history dates back to 1711.
From our award winning supplier Jean Loron who, for the past few vintages, has been awarded the top prize in the Beaujolais Nouveau competition organised in Beaujolais each year. The one wine we sell every year before tasting.
Beaujolais Nouveau owes its easy drink-ability to a wine-making process called carbonic maceration, also called whole berry fermentation. This technique preserves the fresh, fruity quality of the wine, without extracting bitter tannins from the grape skins.
Food Match: Pair with typical French charcuterie (saucisson, paté & jambon), plus crusty baguettes with Brie or Camenbert.
Serve the wine lightly chilled to accentuate the fruit.

We love the Beaujolais day so always love it.A shame it is no longer celebrated as it once was.It deserves a much better reputation.Far superior to 40 years ago. Please give it a try.
