Now it's possible to convert all your winches to become powered. All you need is a strong cordless drill and an iWinch bit! The iWinch bit fits virtually all winches and is easily mounted on electric drills with a 13mm chuck, thus converting your power tool to a useful aid to have on board for hoisting and trimming the sails. The solid construction of the iWinch is due to it being carved from one piece of super anodised aluminium, meaning that it is balanced and totally solid. Modern powertools, which feature Lithium-Ion batteries and brushless motors, are generally very strong and reliable, meaning that you can use your iWinch on any winch onboard. Advantages of the iWinch: Portable - use on any winch Far cheaper than electric winches or electric winch handles - even including the cost of the drill Your drill will balance well in the winch and will not fall out when sailing Normally the drill will fit in many winch handle pockets so it's always close to hand You'll always have a quality drill on board for other jobs! Please Note: The iWinch is only as good as the power tool you use it with. It is recommended to use it with a brushless motor drill offering at least 60Nm of torque and 2 or more Lithium batteries (so you always have a spare available)

Upon purchase it felt light and not up to the job of winching. Yesterday, my fears were confirmed when it snapped at the shank. You could argue that the force was too much, but I continued winching with a winch handle, without issue. I have now purchased a stainless steel version, which I hope will be a lot stronger

This item is made of aluminium. I've used it over 2 consecutive weekends in my 95nm Dewalt drill (the recommended item from the website). The drill is very powerfull and since the item isn't hardened steel small splinters of aluminium have already started to form where the drill grips it; I definitely had it tight enough within the drill bit. This should either be hardened steel or stainless.

Works fine. It is important that your drill has enough torque, mine is 65Nm and my sail is 200 sq ft gaff. I use the drill for the throat and I hand pull the peak. I still have to harden up by hand winch. I have not used it on jib. When uzeing it for the first time the advice in the instructions about gripping the drill in both hands is worth following. Price seems very high.
