Osculati 12mm Anchor Chain Markers Reviews

4.6 Rating 9 Reviews
Read Force 4 Chandlery Reviews

How often do you stand there wondering how much chain you've let out, because you are too busy concentrating on other things going on as you anchor? These simple but effective coloured (Red, Yellow, White, Green & Blue) rubber markers overcome the problem. Made to withstand abrasion and salt water corrosion, they are easy to fit to the chain, and unlike paint they are easy to see whilst the chain is running out at speed. ? Supplied as a pack of 40 inserts ? 8 each of blue, green, red, white and yellow ? Fits 12mm diameter chain

Over the years I think I have tried just about every anchor chain marking system there is and over the uears all of them have failed, one way or another. These days I sail a small sailing cruiser with 30m of 6mm chain and I tried these markers out, just to see how well they fared, or not. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the markers stayed in the chain links for two seasons and the only time that one of them did come out was due to over-enthusiastic mud removal with a stiff-bristled brush. The only critisism I could levy at these markers is that since they are inside the chain links, they are not easy to see as the cahin runs out and this year I have painted two links either side of the one containing the marker with white paint.

Simple to insert into the chain links, makes life easier when working out how much anchor chain to lay out.

Easy enough to fit, if you use a screwdriver. As we haven't yet used the anchor since fitting these, I can't comment on their effectiveness in use. Once we've anchored a few times, I'll try to come back and add a further report but Force 4 wouldn't let me submit my review of another product without also reviewing this at the same time. I usually prefer to wait until I've tested the product!

Useful to mark the chain with the colour code of When Greasy Rub Your Balls White, Green, Red, Yellow and Blue. You can always use some colour paint too Enough supplied to use each colour one for the first length of chain then using same colour code double up for the next length
