The new Easy2-MOB is a combined AIS/DSC emergency beacon and takes AIS man overboard PLBs to the next level: In the event of a “man overboard” situation, the device enables all ships in the immediate vicinity of the casualty to be alerted immediately via an AIS broadcast from the device (including the devices GPS position) It is easy to fit by the end user - it activates on contact with water, so only needs to be put inside the lifejacket and secured with a lanyard - no complicated fitting! It has an integrated DSC and is able to send DSC "open loop distress calls“  The Easy2 has powerful red LEDs. This increases the visibility especially in the dark. The Easy2 MOB App provides easy interaction with the unit and allows programming of MMSI numbers as well as detailed self test and battery status information.  The unit is buoyant, waterproof, extremely durable.  The Weatherdock Easy2 is manufactured in Germany to the highest standards. It is compact and should fit into almost all inflating lifejackets, or can simply be carried in a pocket if preferred. It is automatically activated by means of a firing unit similar to that used in an automatic lifejacket - a feature unique to the Easy2.  Function The new easy2-MOB is a combined AIS/DSC emergency beacon and puts AIS MOB to the next level. The new AIS rescue transmitter now has an integrated DSC receiver and is able to send DSC „open loop distress calls“ and to receive their confirmation again. In the event of a “man overboard” situation, the device enables all ships in the immediate vicinity of the casualty to be alerted immediately. This ensures that rescue attempts can be made as quickly as possible. Alerting is carried out in parallel via AIS to all AIS receiving systems within transmission range of the easy2-MOB as well as via DSC „distress call“ to DSC radios. First and foremost, of course, with both alerts to your own ship. By using powerful red LEDs, the easy2-MOB can also be used as an electronic torch. This increases the visibility especially in the dark. To do this, the vest only needs to be opened a little. The safety line is attached inside e.g. to an existing ring with a knot. To activate the automatic activation, the yellow slider has to be moved from "disarmed" into the "armed" position at the left side. Finally, the vest is closed again. I have not had reason to use it in a real MOB situation and I hope I never will. However, it seems well designed and I especially like that it is water activated rather than other MOB's that I have that rely upon a lifejacket bladder activation. I was easily able to program my boat's radio data by following online instructions and using the Weatherdock Android app on my phone. However, the printed instructions were incorrect. Very easy to install into the jacket.
