This is a handy cordless, butane powered, hotknife rope cutter. Being gas powered makes it a great addition to a tool box on board.  It will cut most nylon, polypropolene and polyester ropes, also sealing them helping to prevent them fraying and unravelling on you. Features Piezo ignition Fully adjustable Refillable Size: L190 x 25mm Dia (with cap) Operating Time: upto 30 mins Approx Temperature: Upto 450degC Please Note: Gas ligher fuel not included.

Works as expected. Only criticism is that the transparent cap provided is too short to cover the tip when the blade is in place, so there is no way of keeping it all together.

It’s okay for a quick fix but not comparable to a good electric hot knife

For its price, this little gadget positively surprised me , if I'm honest. It really does make good clean cuts of both rope and shock cord ( bungee cord). It takes about 10-15 secs to be hot enough to start the cut - but patience pays off and it cuts and seals the individual fibres as it goes. I found it efficient too, on the amount of lighter fuel it uses too. I would recommend using it in a well ventilated room, with a block of wood underneath ( as advised), whilst careful cleaning of the knife blade is needed to remove any residual plastic etc between cuts.
