“I bought these because I have to wear gloves in summer to prevent a sun rash on the backs of my hands — although I’m a very healthy, active young woman, I’ve had a sun allergy since I was about four that means I have to cover up in hot weather. I’d been wearing sporty UPF 50 gloves for a couple summers but didn’t like how they looked. I needed gloves that matched my style, were machine washable, and kept me cool, because in New York it can be 80, 90, 100 degrees Fahrenheit in summer. I found Cornelia James because I was reading one of Angela Kelly’s books and she mentioned gloves for the Queen, and I thought, that’s right, there’s an example of a modern person wearing gloves in hot weather and it looking nice, so I Googled what brand the Queen wears. I saw the section on the Cornelia James website about picking a summer glove, and the note that the Isla gloves are the “everyday” style, designed for the hottest weather, and are UPF 50. I emailed Customer Service to ask if the gloves had been tested to show they were UPF 50 or if this was just an estimation and they confirmed the gloves had been tested. These gloves have made me feel very special: they arrived the day after the day after I ordered them — I ordered them Wednesday and received them in Manhattan on Friday, and I chose free shipping — , they were packaged in a beautiful box with a note and a creatively designed tag, the cloth is astoundingly soft, the stitching is neat, and now I understand the phrase “fits like a glove,” because of how well these fit on my hands. I’d just gotten back from a hot summer walk when they arrived, so I tried them on to see if they cooled me off, and immediately I felt some kind of cool wash over me. I’ve gone out on bright days wearing them in 75-85 degree heat and they keep me cooler than I would be if I wasn’t wearing them, and I haven’t gotten my sun rash through them. I think they’re beautiful, since my style is very Grace Kelly, Audrey Hepburn, so I love that I have an “excuse” to wear these. I appreciate that they come with a pouch because I can keep them in my purse but keep them white and the cloth intact. These cost a lot of money for me, as I’d usually spend this amount on a pair of sheets or a handbag, whereas I would think of gloves as something more minor, but Cornelia James really delivered in quality, packaging, delivery time, customer service, and the product itself. These have made quite a difficult part of summer for me — having to wear gloves — fashionable and something I look forward to :)”

“I did not expect the gloves to arrive so quickly, or so beautifully packaged. They fit better than any vintage gloves I've worn, which are usually too long in the fingers and too tight across the hand. Thank you and I will definitely purchase from you again.”
