About Coffee Hit Ltd:

I started Coffee Hit in 2008, when I was always buying cool coffee gear from USA and Australia as it was not availble in the UK. I wanted great coffee for my customers and at home!
I wanted to help cafes and people make great coffee at home. I wanted to show people it didnt need to be expensive and great coffee can be fun and simple.

But if your like me you like to geek out a bit and we also have some really cool coffee brewing gear for my fellow coffee geeks.

We have the solutions for you to make great coffee at home or in the cafe.

Enjoy!

The Baratza Sette 270Wi is hands dowb the best grinder I’ve ever owned. I love the consistency of my shots now (I did add one shim). And the quick service from Coffee Hit was outstanding, ensuring I received my grinder promptly with good updates along the way. Highly recommended!

Been using Baratza for years and so when my existing one broke it made sense to trade it in for a better model. It’s an excellent very easy to use grinder that provides very good results. Highly recommend.

After reading a ton of reviews online, I knew I wanted a grind by weight grinder where I can just stick the portafilter in and measure out the right amount every time. This Baratza definitely does that! In fact, it’s probably the only one in its price range to do so, and general fit and finish seems quite good, being made out of mainly plastic but I wouldnt call it “plasticky”. Note it is relatively tall so pick placement wisely. Grinds fine enough for espresso and includes shims to go finer if needed (not for me), and when grinding directly to portafilter I ended up using a dosing funnel to avoid any spillage, theres an adjustable height rest to accommodate. I had read a lot of reviews saying it’s noisy, and it definitely is, but the speed makes up for it and I don’t think it’s noisier than steaming milk, maybe for a family household or studio apartments it may cause a problem. Overall, for my use case it’s a very good grinder, and the feature-price ratio is unbeatable.

The Grinder is the best I have used. I expected the item to be delivered on Monday, it actually arrived on Saturday which I was really happy about.

There are a number of things you have to get right to make great coffee and one of them is the grind. I have had several grinders and until now none have given the consistency that is required for taste and crema but this one is different, the quantity is repeatable to the 0.1 gram and has three separate settings for single, double and espresso shots, well worth the money.

I've been using this Grinder for espresso and pour over and I couldn't be happier with the grind consistency and dosing. It also looks fantastic on the counter.

We have now got to appreciate the difference in taste from the Baratza grind! Forgot to mention how little static is created - the coffee ends up in the basket, not the bench. Still totally impressed with the consistency of the grind and dosing.

It's early days but the 270wi has a lot in its favour. The vertical path is a huge improvement on my elderly Rancillio Rocky, the accuracy of the dosing is phenomenal and it grinds 18g in almost no time. The machine is also very neat and compact but remarkably light - so much so that an over-enthusiastic push of the 'on button' can send it scuttling! The quality of the grind seems faultless, so far, and eliminates 'fines' as far as I can tell. The result is a very clean brew (espresso) with a fabulous lasting crema and very attractive mouth-feel. Unfortunately it is showing up things in our long-time favourite bean blend that we don't much like, so we will need to experiment again with other beans! On the negative side I am concerned that such a light motor and mechanism will stand moderate domestic use for many years. Time will tell. Annoyingly, the portafilter hook is pretty useless with the Expobar Leva 4 portafilter and VST basket- its backstop is in the wrong place and the arms of the 'hook' tend not to hold the thing in place - result is some of the grind falling down the back of the portafilter and sometimes the pf dropping off mid-grind. I use two pfs - the standard 2-cup one with an 18g VST basket and a naked one with a 15g VST basket but these are different depths, necessitating twisting of the rubber cushions on the arms supporting the pf - I wonder how long before these start turning of their own volition! In conclusion, the grind quality and weighing functions are superb - so far, but some of the practicalities are a pain. There are far more expensive 'domestic' grinders out there but this is still quite a bit to pay.
