“It has taken me a few weeks to break these in as they're a very sturdy shoe, but they seem well-made and solid. Things improved for me greatly when I took the insoles out and fitted flatter felt ones . . but that's probably just my feet. The very worst thing about them (and I find this really surprising seeing their heritage in walking footwear) is the soles. They can be exceptionally slippy. I first noticed it when the soles were wet and I was trying to drive - my feet were slipping about all over the place on a rubber car mat. This has come to a head in the last week when we have had snowy and icy coditions - they're not too bad when there's some texture underfoot, but anything icy and it is like wearing a pair of skates. Actually quite dangerous and I feel as a company they should look at these soles, because in my case they're making me think twice in wearing them out in such conditions. That's my only complaint so far - they're solid shoes for fine conditions.”
