“As Bearsden residents we have visited Ashoka Bearsden many times over the years. However, I will admit more recently we have been Raja Rani customers. We decided to give the Ashoka Bearsden another try after picking up some vouchers on Wowcher. The results were disappointing I’m afraid. We were mostly shocked at how small the portions were compared to our past experience of this and other Ashoka restaurants. Especially the Chicken Korma dishes that we ordered which I would have not even said felt like even a half portion. But also the pakora (3 pieces per portion) and Jhingha Tandoori, which we ordered in addition to our vouchers (5 king prawns, which for a dish costing £19 we thought was very paltry.) The chicken korma was very watery in addition to this and the Ashoka Traditional Chicken Curry was described by the member of our party who ate it as tasting “like a poor homemade curry”. I assume that meant out of a jar or a ready meal. It wasn’t all disappointing, the naan bread was plentiful and as fresh as could be and I personally found the tandoori options were very tasty although as previously stated the tandoori main felt like a very small portion. Ultimately we were left disappointed and probably would not rush back when we have the option of Raja Rani across the road. We do have another set of Wowcher vouchers already purchased but at this stage I’m not sure if we will use them.”

“The food was absolutely delicious though a little extra for preferred starters or mains … the portions of the main dish were very small …. You shouldn’t leave a restaurant hungry we are not big eaters so a little more curry and it would have been 5 stars”
