We bought a Wowcher holiday 6 weeks ago, Benini Train journey, Italy & Switzerland. Sounds lush, a few days back, I noticed a Wowcher anticipatory review request. So due to fly out this Saturday the 6th Dec. In 5 days, but we don't know if its actually organised. All info should have been sent 14 days prior, but despite emails and phone calls, we've still only got the vague info sent in October, the day after paying for it. The vouchers were redeemed with Travelcrew, UK based in Hounslow with Steven Parker who called 2 days after booking to take the payment of £1500. A following conversation (in october) was to the effect of "there aren't the seats on the Benini train so can you reshedule by a month". We couldn't so (surprise).. for a £179 supplement we can rearrange the dates and cities to make it possible. So handing over my works bonus, 4x £179, the booking was set. The initial payment method failed and 'thankfully' Steven was very attentive and arranged an alternative method. 14 days prior to flight, no documents. Emailed them, no reply. 12 days, emailed again and called, was promised a callback. None came 11 and 10 days, called again, now on different phones because used phones were just going to voicemail. When we did get through, Steven was aparrently on a call but would call me back afterwards. Yeah OK! The early vague email had flight times only, so using AI I managed to find the operators, Ryanair & Easyjet. An eventual Easyjet human told us that none of our 4 were booked onto any flights with them. We tried with Ryanair, but we knew the answer, and didn't want to lose 6 hours to find that out. We have a suspicion that the hotel is booked, but can't help suspecting (because of things transpiring) that it might be cancelled for a refund, or not even paid for. The flights weren't (as of 2 days ago) booked, and the train tickets / timings are anyones guess. On 29 Nov, spoke to Peter Williams, who said we'd have the info at 4-5pm on Monday. It's now 6pm. A call earlier today on another phone got the answer "Sorry Madam, you are on a different flight now". Evidently we weren't ever booked on one. A Tripadvisor review had many 5* reviews about a very helpful Steven. I checked the more plausible 1* reviews, which had a common theme echoing ours, no comms, no info, payment-dependant readjustments etc. So with our experience with them so far of zero results, the 1* reviews, english names but heavy indian accents, we really don't know what to think, apart from the worst. We'll have to wait and see, but being in limbo, we can't make any alternative arrangements, and if it goes ahead there are special needs provisions that we need to make. It's a debacle so far, and Wowcher, you have lost my trust for anything more expensive than a kettle. Your e-T&Cs state we have to verify the integrity of the merchant to our satisfaction, but I did'nt know the ID before making payment. A no-liability buyer-beware policy, has rendered you a complication that we can do without, with you seemingly being used by merchants who take 'under delivering' to olympian levels . I was considering starting a facebook group up titled 'Wowcher / Travelcrew calamities'. People need to be warned and protected. It's nice living in a high trust world, I'm sick of these shabby experiences spoiling it. It's now december. I started a section 75 credit card recovery 3 weeks ago, but it's on hold because wowcher got in touch and have taken the case. They have emailed the merchant for a response, 2 weeks ago unsuccessfully, so I'll continue sect 75.
