“The food in the Artisan restaurant was very nice for both dinner and breakfast, very fresh ingredients and lovely friendly staff. The hotel staff were brilliant and couldn’t do enough for us. We enjoyed the chance of a swim and use of the sauna/steam rooms with complementary towels. However, the only downside was the room or the upgrade to a suite that we had. Clean and tidy but in urgent need of an upgrade itself! There was a large living room area with a balcony and sliding glass doors. In the room was a smallish tv, a large 3 seat settee, two large matching armchairs, an enormous coffee table and a slightly smaller one in the corner. In front of the sliding doors was a large circular dining table and chairs. On the balcony was fake grass and one chair. Around the tv was a large mirror over what was a built in dressing table, with large empty shelves to the right and what probably was a small fridge, this was sealed shut! The bed was comfortable and the large dressing table had chipped paint all over it. The bathroom was very large, with a slippery base and a new bath, with no screen, seperate toilet within the bathroom. Less is more as far as the endless furniture is concerned. The paintwork is drab and it has the impression of late 80’s/90’s accessories, like the lights the electric sockets with the brass band around plug outlets. The bedside tables( built in) had four switches on both sides and couldn’t work out what they were for. We were only there for one night and if that is what’s considered an upgrade, I can only guess what the other rooms were like. So, bad points-dated suite, upgrade urgently required. Good points- looked like a great wedding venue, Very friendly staff, clean rooms and hotel, nice Spa, restaurant was very nice. Again, young staff, very friendly and efficient. Good food, fresh and tasty at both evening meal and plentiful breakfast. Would I stay again- Yes ( if it was taken in hand and had more than some tlc done to the rooms) photos of the beautiful Ribble Valley in the rooms and hotel would be more pleasing on the eye than the weird abstract prints in the rooms.”

“The hotel from the outside looks lovely but I'm guessing that because it was booked through wowcher we were sent through the hotel to a outside building that I can only describe as sleeping over at your nans house, outdated and the mattress was like 2 Rizla papers pushed together, bathroom was filthy with hair on the floor, we stayed approximately 3 hours then cut our losses and left, Spoilt our weekend..”

“Absolutely love this place. Rooms are very spacious and comfortable and the grounds are beautiful and peaceful. The food is really good and portion sizes are more than enough to satisfy a hungry guest. We stay here ever time there is a wowcher. Just love it.”
