“Lovely, spacious room with a view of the Mound. The evening meal was tasty but a poor choice. The breakfast was unsatisfactory. Watered down juice, had to ask for fried eggs and beans as they had run out. Took ages to replenish. Poor choice. Breakfast was in the bar for us with a dog. No tablecloths, cutlery or crockery set up. Dismal atmosphere. Coffee was weak and thin. We were used given milk from another table. The fee for the dog was £20 for one night, ridiculous amount. The Palace didn’t even charge us. We won’t be staying again. No offer of help with the luggage bearing in mind we are elderly with an old dog. Charges for parking too !!!”

“So we upgraded to a four poster bed for the extra £20, the room was large, the floor was quite uneven "quite the experience after a few drinks" and bed comfortable but no view, just the interior courtyard area. The hotel is very convenient for Buxton, everything just a short walk away. The hotel is tired but retains an oldy worldy charm. The only thing that ought be mentioned is that the two course meal is from a set menu and not the main restaurant menu so its a very limited and not so fancy choice”
