“I treated my friend to the afternoon tea at cardiff welsh house we had the most dreadful experience!dried sandwiches, melted chocolate brownie which had run into the other food on board.scones dry that crumbled when cut couldn't be eaten.service was so slow had to continually ask for our drinks jam and cream for scones and to top it off boiling tea brought in tea pots no lids as apparently all broken such a health and safety issue, no tea spoons run out and milk brought in a gravy boat!!!!I will never return”

“Staff were absolutely lovely - attentive, polite and genuine. The restaurant was clean and pleasant and had a nice ambience. Presentation of afternoon tea was on a contemporary three tiered stand which was nice. Cups were stained, I asked for a clean cup and was given a second stained cup. The Carmarthen Welsh House (which is where we were) is very new so clearly no attention is being given to the state of very new crockery and how it looks when taking from dishwasher and given to customers. Food - very poor! Everything was shop bought, nothing home made except the sandwiches, although the bread was a poor quality white sliced loaf. Brownies were ok, but very commercial tasting. Welshcakes were better and I believe they were probably made by one of the local small factories e.g. Tan y castell. Mini scones were overheated and rock hard. Clotted cream had developed a top crust and jam was ok! Sandwich content was adequate. The top layer of the stand contained something unidentifiable (although the waiter did explain what it was called) - there were two kinds of shop bought savouries which were so overcooked and dried out they were disgusting - I ate mine as I was starving! The rocket garnish on the tiered stand was so limp and dead it was pitiful. Overall, for the price I could have accepted shop bought items. However as they were so dried out (I'm guessing from being prepared in advance and then kept warm under kitchen lights!) the whole meal was terrible. My overall score of 2 is for the staff and the ambience. My score for the food would be 0. I don't get any pleasure from leaving a bad review, but you did email me asking for a review!”
