“We thought as we arrived at Shrigley Hall it was a lovely place and looked forward to our 2 course meal. We both ordered a starter, prawn cocktail with bread and butter and then the beef dinner. The beef dinner was lovely but the prawn cocktail starter was exactly the opposite. It came on a small plate with a few prawns on a bed of shredded lettuce and a few drips of seafood sauce and that was it oh apart from 2 triangles of brown bread which was about a quarter of a round of bread without the crusts so obviously very miniscule with no butter. It was a very poor presentation. Ive never had a prawn cocktail in a restaurant or at home either for that matter with such little imagination. I asked the waitress if it was because we were on a wowcher as to why it was so meagre and she said "no, all of them come like that" so not a good start. If we did come again it has certainly put me off ordering any extras ie starters or desserts.”

“A lovely setting for a beautiful Sunday lunch. The roast beef was beautifully cooked and delicious. The service was very pleasant and we would certainly return.”
