“My friend and I stayed there last night and were very impressed with the hotel. The staff were friendly and very efficient. We were given one of the river-facing rooms with a view of the Cathedral. It was bright and spacious and I had one of my best night’s sleep I’d had in ages. Breakfast was included and it set us up for our journey home. I There are refurbishments being carried out at present, but it in no way spoiled our stay. I would have no reservations in recommending this hotel for anybody wishing to visit Durham.”

“Spacious Room with a view of the river and castle , lovely comfy bed, spotlessly clean . Note to anyone using this great deal - if you want spa treatment on top of the deal book before you go - they were fully booked the two days we were there / pool was busy so if you want a proper swim go before breakfast . Hot tub is tiny and occupied at all times by old fellas who don’t move - there should be a time limit to free access up for others who would like to use it . Breakfast fine , except please put fried eggs out and not have to request them - the scrambled egg isn’t great on the buffet . Great location - would recommend Thai River if you want to eat out for your evening meal the food is exceptional . Crook Hall gardens is literally 5 minutes along from the hotel and well worth a visit ( National trust) All in all a brilliant deal and will book again”

“The room was bog standard, nice and clean, however we paid for ‘spa access’ and the hot tub was broken and so was the sauna we specifically chose this hotel for the spa access, the reception staff weren’t very welcoming, made us feel awkward cause they were quite shy, and spoke very quietly, the next morning we went down for breakfast, staff were polite but it was very unorganised, won’t be coming back here.”
