“Went with my daughter to celebrate her birthday,there was a mix up when we arrived as they had booked us for a meal & not afternoon tea,the girl that served us checked with the kitchen & said they could still do us afternoon tea but it would be 30mins wait,we didn't mind waiting,less than 15 mins it arrived & although it looked ok I'm afraid it wasn't as great as the reviews I'd read,the sandwiches were dry at the edges,the scones & cakes weren't very appealing & the cheesecake was soggy at the bottom & looked like it had been sitting for a while,best part was the warm sausage roll All in all very disappointing but credit to the friendly staff that managed to rectify their booking error,unfortunately it just seemed like they had managed to scrape a few things together that might possibly have been ready for discarding later that day.I wouldn't visit again”

“Had a lovely time at the george, afternoon tea, the food was very tasty and well presented. Bottomless Prosecco for 90 mins, the Prosecco was good quantity our glasses were never empty the 2 ladies who waited on us were very friendly and helpful. I would highr recomend The george for food, drink and atmosphere.”

“Very satisfied with the food which was fresh and a good selection for 6 people. However the food was presented on large wooden platters, sandwiches & savouries on one platter & sweet selection on another, staff tried to put the 2 large platters on a round table which had cups/saucers & cutlery we asked could she bring the sweet platters after we had finished the savoury one? She took it away but then returned it saying it could not be left in the kitchen. Teas & coffees were brought cold, staff said it was probably because the machine had not been on long enough, although we had purchased a second drink approx 90 minutes after the first cold drinks were served.”

“Really enjoyed our afternoon tea. Sandwiches were freshly made and plenty of food for 2 people. Very pleasant service and surroundings. This was my 2nd visit for afternoon tea and it was just as good on 2nd occasion.”
