“Staff were really good and friendly. The afternoon tea was absolutely delicious, the sandwiches were well filled and a lovely selection of cakes including a perfect scone each . Would definitely go again.”

“Probably one of the worst afternoon tea we've had. Sandwiches were cut thickly. Some had ham, egg mixture and some, we had no idea what it was but left them. Scones were just edible with jam and cream. Cakes were very soft and not particularly pleasant. The receptionist served us and we didn't see any other staff. Hotel was almost empty and we were on our own in the room. Hotel seemed generally run down. Certainly, wouldn't return.”

“Really underwhelming. First of all, they didn't have our booking. However, the reception team handled it very well and still sat us down and offfered us tea or coffee. They were exemplary and I cannot find fault with either lady. However, there was no atmosphere, the food was near inedible (raw macaron anyone? A choux bun which tasted like it was burnt? A scone that appeared perfectly cooked but tasted more like a cake?) I really am sad to say all of this but it just did not work for me and it was evident that it didn’t work for a lot of other people as there was a lot of food left behind on other tables. You could argue that they were full but surely they’d want to take it with them if it was that good!”

“Unfortunately I wasnt impressed with the afternoon tea at the Orchid Hotel. There was no menu to let you know what you were being served and when asked what things were the waiter who I think was the manager didnt know! Our finger sandwhiches looked like they had been put together by a toddler. I have also never had mushed up mushroom in an afternoon tea finger sandwhich. The desserts were awful. Jelly like on top of like a cereal bar that crushed into a million little piece when you tried to cut into it. The only thing that was nice and edible was the scone and jam and cream.”
